No professionial sports league 'sells itself' better than the NFL. For a number of years now, they've managed to keep their league and brand in the news 365 days a year and the NFL Draft has become 'must see' tv. As well, by moving it from city to city the last few years, it has become a huge local event for the place that hosts it. This year, over 295 000 fans attended Night 1 of the draft! That almost increased the size of the city of Detroit by 50%! The draft used to be 17 rounds. Then, it was reduced to 12, and for the past number of years, it has gone down to 7, but shrinking the number of rounds has coincided with its increased popularity. For weeks and even months in advance, there is endless speculation about which teams will draft which players. Well, on April 25th, the 2024 draft began. Two days later, it was over.
